What changes this most?
A car can fit the finance payment while still exceeding your total monthly transport budget. Include ownership costs before deciding.
Sensitivity check
A roughly 10% move in car purchase price changes the modeled headline result by up to $60 in this setup.
This is not lender approval or a recommendation. Insurance, depreciation and running costs vary by vehicle and driver.

Formula
The modeled monthly car cost is compared with a user-selected maximum share of take-home income after existing monthly commitments.
Finance payment uses standard amortisation. Ownership costs and the affordability percentage are explicit user assumptions, not lender rules.
Editable rates, growth assumptions, prices, fees, and percentages are planning inputs unless the calculator explicitly identifies a current source.
